Most premium handheld available 25 September 2024 | Andrew
The President Randy 3 has been on the market a couple of years but it is still cutting edge. The Rx sensitivity is unparalleled for any handheld, as are the advanced noise filter options. It is expensive admittedly but the feature set justifies the price. Build quality is superb and the physical size of the radio is somewhat more compact compared to rivals - the radio itself can fit securely inside the top pocket of your chest waders for example, while the stock antenna is compact but still performs very well.

Deliverd on time unboxed feels solid and well made .
I didn't want to review till i tried it and it is performing well,is it worth the extra money performance wise its similar to others but build wise and long term it could be worth that extra money.
I have sold 100's of all sorts of cb's over the years and its water that kills them.

The President Randy 3 is a superb portable. Its so good I have 2 of them. They obviously work best connected to a decent antenna on the car. However if you invest in the Super gainer type portable antenna you'll be pleasantly surprised. I did and mine work extremely well over at least 4 to 5 miles. Overall a decent handheld.
The Thunderpole T-X is also an awesome portable. I have the T-X too and it's just as good as the Randy, maybe even slightly better and half the price!

I’ve had many CB Radios over 40 years and when I saw this one it ticked the boxes (initially)
The menu and settings is easy enough and it works well on an external antenna. However, mine just stopped working after a few months. On sending it away it appeared that there was no output and would cost £65 - £85 to repair.
President we’re not interested even under warranty so I was left with a radio fit for the bin.
Please let me add though that this is not by any fault of Thunderpole. It was bought elsewhere but I was so upset that I have made it my mission to steer people away from the Randy. Buy Thunderpole’s handheld instead. That’s nice!

For a hand held this has to be light years in front of anything else. Obviously severely restricted with the transmit distance using standard ducks, but so far I've managed 3 miles using the 20cm duck provided and pulled in 18 miles on receive (although no idea about the technical details of that station other than he was sitting at 800 ft).
The obvious major advantage of the Randy 3 is the ability to quickly switch to a mobile for the car so for the just over £200 you have the best of both worlds, but more importantly the quality of President.
